Azerbaijan is a member of UNESCO since 1992. In 1996, a memorandum of cooperation between UNESCO and Azerbaijanwas signed. Since then, mutual relations have been expanded and many large-scale projects have been implemented. One of such projects is the project "Cultural Heritage of Azerbaijan" developed by the Azerbaijan National Commission for UNESCO and the Azerbaijan Carpet Museum.
The project includes trainings on the conservation and restoration of traditional fabrics, embroidery and national costumes. It should be noted that today, modern technology has pushed the traditional art to the wayside. The aim of this program is to train new personnel in the field of conservation, as well as the to preserve and convey to future generations the traditional arts and crafts of Azerbaijan.
The project was launched in October 24. In the project, workshops on the preservation of textile, embroidery and national costumes were organized. For that end, foreign experts - conservators from Germany and Russia, and national embroidery masters from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan were invited.
